A journey through the Collections

Exhibition from 20th May to 30th September 2018 at the Musée Dobrée, Nantes.

The musée Dobrée was created during the XIXth century, uniting the collections of two museums, at the crossroads between art history and archaeology. With about 135 000 works of art, this museum is one of the firsts collections of the Great West. All 350 objects on display until September 30th are examples of the diversity of the the departmental museum's collections. A path is organized following ten thematic spaces: numismatics, non-European art, military as well as Mediterranean and national archaeology, sculpture, fine arts and works of art, manuscripts and printed art, archives and autographs, and graphic art. Here, a painting representing Thomas Dobrée stands next to pistols from the XVIIIth century, Art Déco vases, a mammoth’s baby tooth from the Paleolithic, together with the spectacular reliquary that once contained Anne of Brittany’s heart.

A journey through 5 000 centuries of History on 5 continents.
