Databases: Notes and assignats

The “paper money” collection of the Dobrée museum is both large and varied and contains assignats, territorial mandate promises, trust notes, necessity notes, bank notes etc.

Again, it is important to underline the regional dimension of this collection that contains bonds from the Nantes Chamber of Commerce, trust notes from the West of France and the infamous notes of the Catholic and Royal Army of Brittany.

The Dobrée museum collection also has an almost complete and rare set of necessity notes issued by local governments after WWI, to be used in France and its colonies. Also of note, the series of notes from the Syndicat de Défense Contre les Sauterelles (Union for the Defense Against Locust) of Sidi Bel Abbes in 1916.
