- AuteurCharles de Blois, duc de Bretagne
Today, there are still over 10,000 coins minted for the Dukes of Brittany. Less than 150 of those are at the Vannes museum, less than 400 can be found in Rennes, less than 500 at the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris and 3,000 are presented at the Dobrée museum.
The coins minted for the Dukes of Brittany represent the “qualitative heart” of the Dobrée museum coin collection. This database showcases a selection of a few hundred coins that were used for transactions and as revenues but were also useful propaganda tools for the dukes to emphasize their sovereign authority.
